Living in Dominica

Dominica enjoys a pleasant climate, especially from December to March when the weather is cooler. Known for their friendliness, Dominicans are often praised by travelers, a sentiment backed by the country’s very low crime rate. Due to its mountainous terrain, only about a quarter of the island is cultivated, but the fertile soil supports both domestic and export crops. The country promotes organic agriculture, which holds significant economic potential.

Established in 1993, Dominica’s citizenship by investment program was designed to enhance the country’s agriculture-based economy. Over recent years, increased real estate investments have shifted the economy’s focus towards tourism. The island, spanning 750 km², is home to over 74,000 residents, including around 3,000 of the last surviving native Carib people in the Caribbean. Dominica has an almost negligible crime rate, and its currency, the Eastern Caribbean dollar, is pegged to the US dollar.
